Here are five steps to know if you're ready:
1. Finances and Budget. There are so many tools available to look at your economic situation. Simple thing to do is live within your means, know what to live on while looking at prospects.
2. Look at your job assignment. Many don't see the larger purpose as to why they are at the job position they're in. We have an assignment that gives clues to our ultimate purpose. It may not be time to leave yet.
3. Check your emotions. The worst time is when emotions are running high from a spat with a co-worker, a toxic work environment, or facing a bully. To make good choices, have a level head to understand if it is truly time to leave.
4. Shift to a self employed lifestyle. If you've looked at the first 3 steps, and you know this is a realistic option, assess whether you have the self discipline to know what to accomplish and bring in the income.
5. Consider another job. If you've looked at the above and are not ready yet, it's totally ok. Think about another job, and whether that new job is a stepping stone to your next assignment.
